About Us
My name is Jo and I started Outward-Hound in 2010 after getting our RSPCA rescue dog, Charlie.
I hadn’t owned a dog before, so I had a lot to learn! Charlie had separation anxiety, and it took me 12 weeks of research and careful work with him to work through his anxiety about being left.
After that I started dog walking and home-boarding and became fascinated to learn more about how dogs learn to do the incredible stuff they do. I did loads of courses, then went on to do a degree (first class) in training and behaviour.
Although I lost Charlie at the beginning of the year, he still remains the reason I am so passionate about helping you get the best from your canine companion.

Now, Outward-Hound offers dog walking and home-boarding, as well as dog training.
My team of canine carers are all experienced, reliable, professional and put the welfare of your dog first. All team members are DBS checked and canine first aid trained.
Meet the Team
Janet – Home boarding
Janet has been working with Outward-Hound since 2015. Janet is an experienced dog owner of different breeds of dogs, including crossbreeds, Dalmatian, Collie, Lurchers. Her resident dog is Truly, a Jackapoo. Janet also has a laid-back cat called Zorro. Truly loves to have friends stay with her, going on walks together or just hanging out in the garden. Janet has a 5 star rating from BMBC.
Linda – Home boarding
Linda joined our team in 2023. Their canine family consists of Hank and Misty, Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs. Hank and Misty enjoy swimming and paddle boarding. Linda also has 6 acres of secure land. Linda has a 5 star rating from Leeds County Council.
Megan – Home boarding
Big Welcome to Megan! Our latest host family at Outward-Hound, joining the team in 2024! Recently retired, Megan is now living her dream and working with dogs. She has experience with all sizes of dogs, from Cavalier King Charles Spaniels to her current dog, Poppy, the Great Dane. Megan is now open for bookings. Megan has a 4 star rating from BMBC.
Steve – Dog walker
Steve has been a dedicated member of the Outward-Hound team since 2017. He is loved by all of his canine clients and is renowned for his patience and care. When Steve isn’t working, he loves walking his own dogs, Frank and Nala.

Hayley – Dog walker
Hayley is our latest addition to the Outward-Hound family in May 2025, bringing with her over 27 years experience working with racing Greyhounds and holds qualifications in Animal Care, Animal Management and Canine Sports Massage.
She’s currently owned by two ex-racing Greyhounds and brings a calm, knowledgable presence to every walk.
Hayley also has over 20 years experience working with small animals such rodents, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, insects, fish and birds.
